30 December 2011

Yearling clips of Curraghmore Stud's entries for New Zealand Bloodstock's Karaka 2012 Premier Sale are now live and can be viewed online.

A consistent top vendor at the National Yearling Sales Series, Gordon Cunningham's Curraghmore Stud sold 35 yearlings at the 2011 National Yearling Sales Series for an average price of over $155,000, with the top priced lot, the Zabeel filly from Cat Shema, purchased by Connolly Bloodstock for $550,000.

A proven source of leading performers, Curraghmore Stud has seen the likes of Group 1 winners Sousa (Galileo), Efficient (Zabeel), Sphenophyta (Groom Dancer), Fully Fledged (Align) and the Group 2 winner and first season sire at Karaka 2012 in Guillotine (Montjeu) come from its ranks.

With a draft of 27 yearlings in the Premier Sale, Curraghmore Stud will be offering the only two colts in the Southern Hemisphere in 2012 by one of the world's hottest sires Galileo (Sadler's Wells).

"They are a pair of quality colts and we're excited and privileged to be presenting them for sale in January," commented Cunningham.

"The yearling out of Astonish (Lot 54) is absolutely top draw, he would be one of the best yearlings in our draft for Karaka 2012."

With progeny from 13 sires in the Stud's Premier line-up including Danehill Dancer, Don Eduardo, Pentire, Savabeel, Zabeel and first season sires Duke of Marmalade, Henrythenavigator, Northern Meteor and Sir Percy, some of the highlights in Curraghmore Stud's 2012 Karaka draft include:

Lot 67, the colt by High Chaparral from the Stravinsky mare Ballet Danseuse, a half-sister to the triple Group 1 and Melbourne Cup winner Efficient (Zabeel) and Group 2 winner and sire Guillotine (Montjeu).

Three yearlings by the red-hot sire Fastnet Rock.

Lot 204, the filly by Zabeel from Floridita (Fasliyev), the family of current Group 1 winners the unbeaten filly Maybe (Galileo) and Dancing Rain (Danehill Dancer).
