Former Colin Jillings - Richard Yuill trained galloper, Figures (Maroof x Mercurous) returned to his winning form in Hong Kong, while, New Zealand Bloodstock sale graduates shone through to produce trifectas in the Listed Savabeel 1600 at Awapuni and in the Griffin Class race at Sha Tin on Saturday.

  • Jurys Out (Faltaat x Tarantia) won the Listed Savabeel 1600 at Awapuni. He was brought at the 2001 Select Sale by Stuart Hale for $13,000. Jurys Out crossed the line ahead of two other Karaka sale ring graduates, in Hustler (Al Akbar x Flush) and Sun Hawke (Desert Sun x Selena). Hustler sold at the 2001 South Island sale for $12,500 while Sun Hawke went through the 2001 Ready to Run sale, selling for $27,500 from the draft of Shelby Park.
  • Blakes Boy (Yachtie x Shenton Way) took out the Dunstan Feeds Waikato Hurdles (3200m) at Te Rapa with the decent margin of 6 ½ lengths between him and second place getter, Van Winkle (Bourbon Prince x Orsova). Blakes Boy was sold by The Oaks Stud at the 2001 Festival Select Sale for $18,000.

Hong Kong

  • Figures (Maroof x Mercurous) rounded off the New Zealand bred horses successes for the night's racing in Hong Kong by comfortably taking out the Class 3 ATV Sha Tin Vase (1200m).
  • Toffee (Danasinga x Silver's Sister) led a New Zealand Bloodstock graduate trifecta in the Griffin Class Showbiz Update Plate (1200m). The 2004 Select Sale graduate was sold by Wentwood Grange for $85,000 to Michael Stedman Bloodstock. Toffee beat 2004 Premier Sale graduates Lucky Stravinsky (Stravinsky x Sneetch) and Can Opener (King's Best x Georgiana). Lucky Stravinsky sold for $300,000 from the Trelawney Stud draft while the Pencarrow Stud bred Can Opener sold for $360,000.
  • Lazy Buddies (Woodman x Sneetch) kept the results coming for his dam, Sneetch by winning the Class 5 Miss Asia 2005 H. (1800m). He sold for $120,000 at the 2002 Premier sale. Third in this race was 2004 National Weanling, Broodmare and Mixed Bloodstock sale graduate, Million Successes (Kilimanjaro x Assuage). Under the category of Untried Stock, he sold for $4,500 to Mr Alan Dodunski.
  • Solar Power (Baharre x Kate Shepherd) won the Class 4 Almost Famous H. (1400m). Second in this race was another New Zealand horse in, Go Go Victory (Daggers Drawn x Lady Sunshine). Go Go Victory was sold by Curraghmore Stud at the 2003 Select Sale for $55,000 to Mr Gary Hennessy.
