NZB subsidiary gavelhouse.com launched its state-of-the-art online auction platform last night and, in conjunction with the Canterbury Jockey Club, today unfurled a new partnership with the announcement of the gavelhouse.com New Zealand 1000 Guineas for November 2016.

Sponsorship of this prestigious Group 1 race and its $300,000 purse reflects the commitment from gavelhouse.com, which is 100% New Zealand owned, to support racing in New Zealand.

While it carries enormous prestige in its own right, this race is also the second leg of the fiercely contested New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Series which sees the countries best three-year-old fillies do battle across ten Group races.

gavelhouse.com Sales & Marketing Manager Haylie Martin is excited about the sponsorship. “We are delighted to partner with the Canterbury Jockey Club for such a significant Group 1 race,” commented Martin.

“At gavelhouse.com we provide an auction-based trading platform for buyers and sellers of thoroughbreds, taking the hassle out of the selling process by making it even easier to get results.

“Our sponsorship of this key race during Christchurch’s famous New Zealand Cup & Show Week is an important step in creating awareness in the marketplace.”

Canterbury Jockey Club Chief Executive Tim Mills confirmed the sponsorship arrangement. “The CJC is delighted to have gavelhouse.com sponsor this important race. As NZ Cup & Show Week continues to cement its importance on the calendar, the establishment of such a strong partnership with gavelhouse.com is both a reflection of the strength of the event and significance of the fillies Classic."

Another initiative from gavelhouse.com is its sponsorship of the Trackside at the Trials - Gallops. The one place for coverage of New Zealand thoroughbred trials, this broadcast it will now be brought to Trackside TV viewers by gavelhouse.com. The first plays of trials coverage are on Wednesday mornings from 10:30am with various replays throughout the week.
