Guineas Result Boosts NZB Ready to Run Sale

New Zealand Bloodstock's Ready to Run Sale received a timely boost yesterday with the running of the Group 1 First Sovereign Trust Two Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Riccarton. 2005 Ready to Run Sale graduate Magic Cape (Magic Albert x Cape City) stormed down the outside to reel in star three-year-old Jokers Wild (Black Minnaloushe x Miss Rory)�and secure his share of the NZ$300,000 purse by a neck.
The win was the first Group 1 victory for his sire Magic Albert (Zedative x Sally Lou by Salieri), his jockey Patrick Holmes and for trainer Shaun Ritchie who purchased the gelding for NZ$50,000 from Windsor Park Stud.
Represented by three lots in the Ready to Run Sale, Magic Albert won seven races during his career including the Group 2 STC Peter Pan Stakes (1200m) and the Group 3 Newcastle JC Spring Stakes (1600m). Standing at Yarraman Park Stud, he is currently second on Australia's second season sire list behind Show a Heart and has produced one other stakes winner in the Graeme Rogerson and Stephen Autridge trained Alberto (Magic Albert x Ballet Honours).
Magic Cape's half-brother by Volksraad will be offered as Lot 55 by Woodridge Farm on Tuesday. A similar type to Magic Cape, the chestnut colt breezed up by himself for an easy 10.57 over the 200m.
Gallant second place-getter Jokers Wild is also represented by a half-brother in the Sale. As Lot 201 the colt by Don Eduardo (Zabeel x Diamond Lover by Sticks and Stones) breezed up in 10.70 seconds and is for sale on account of Esker Lodge.
Third place went to the sole filly in the race, Princess Coup (Encosta de Lago x Stoneyfell Road) who backed up after a solid second to Dorabella (Postponed x Caserio) in the Group 1 New Zealand Bloodstock One Thousand Guineas (1600m) last weekend.
The Ready to Run Sale will be held at New Zealand Bloodstock's Karaka Sales Centre on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, commencing at 11am each day.
