Kenny Starfighter Claims NZB Leasing & Finance 3YO

The Lance O'Sullivan trained, Kenny Starfighter (Turbulent Dancer x Hilary Princess) took out the New Zealand Bloodstock Leasing & Finance 3YO on Saturday, in a manner suggesting there are plenty of wins to come from the exciting galloper.

Stakes placed at two, Kenny Starfighter was initially trained by Malcolm Wallace at Otaki before transferring to Lance O'Sullivan at Matamata. The son of Turbulent Dancer prevailed by a length from Aeolian (Al Akbar x Kona), with Puahue Magic (Magic of Sydney x Maria's Pal) in third.

Kenny Starfighter has now won 2 of 13 starts for his owner/breeders, Scott and Judy Preston.

The Prestons bred Kenny Starfighter from the St Hilarion mare Hilary Princess ,whom they purchased from a Levin clearing sale.

Hilary Princess, who was unraced, has proved to be a successful matron. Her first foal is the capable Al Akbar gelding Our Ensign (NZ), who has won three races. Hilary Princess then left Patriotic, who was also by Al Akbar. He showed promise from the Wallace stable without winning and was subsequently sold to West Australia where he has won seven races under the name Hero Mak.

The Hawera event is the final race sponsored by New Zealand Bloodstock for the season, which finishes next week. New Zealand Bloodstock is actively involved in raceday sponsorship in New Zealand, with 34 races carrying the NZB banner.
