More Luck for NZB Ready to Run Sale

16 November 2015

Two graduates of the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale were to the fore at Rosehill on Saturday with More to Gain (Sebring) and Bring Luck (Sebring) combining for a winning double for trainers Amanda Turner and Mauro Poletti.

Poletti Corporation purchased the horses at the NZB Ready to Run Sale, both from George and Maryanne Simon’s Mana Park, with Bring Luck purchased in 2013 for $200,000 and More to Gain in 2014 for $280,000.

“We have supported the Sale over the last few years,” commented Poletti. “In the first crop we had a horse called Slick Speed which has done fairly well for us, the second crop we got Sabino Speed, a dual city winner, and the third crop was the horse that won yesterday, Bring Luck, and the fourth was the best of the lot which is More To Gain. We are improving with each year.”

More To Gain was among the top 10 lots at last year’s Sale, placing Poletti Corporation in the top five leading purchasers after buying a total of three two-year-olds for $610,000.

“Mandy and I go through and analyse the videos and compare them before the Sale to narrow it down to a short list before having them vetted and then go through the bidding process,” continued Poletti.

“We find we do better with going to the Ready to Run Sale. They are prepared fantastically well and it takes a lot of the risk we have out of purchasing. We are very happy with the Sale and will be supporting it again this year.”

More To Gain was the first to win in the A$85,000 Cellarbrations The Grange Wyoming Handicap over 1300m, dashing to victory by one-and-a-quarter-lengths – his second consecutive win after breaking his maiden status four weeks prior over 1600m.

A winner of two races as a three-year-old last season, Bring Luck returns this season to earn his third victory in the A$85,000 Cellarbrations Erindale Liquor November Topaz (1900m) by an impressive two-and-a-half-lengths.

“We don’t like to rush the horses in our stable. Mandy is a fantastic horsewoman and just has an eye for detail, what they need they get, and they thrive on her conditioning,” added Poletti.

“Mauro and Amanda are great supporters of the Sale,” commented NZB’s Bloodstock Sales Manager Danny Rolston who purchases on their behalf. “It is very pleasing to see their success with some really exciting horses, there looks to be a lot more in store from them, particularly with More to Gain.”

NZB’s Ready to Run Sale has had a stellar run of success this spring with two Group 1 wins to add to the already 12 Group 1 races won by graduates since that start of the 2012/13 season.

Adding to his two Group 1 Derby victories last season, Mongolian Khan (Holy Roman Emperor) took out the first Group 1 win of the season for graduates of the Sale, winning the Group 1 Caulfield Cup.

The Melbourne Spring Carnival was also happy hunting ground for Group 1 winning NZB Ready to Run Sale graduate Turn Me Loose (NZ) (Iffraaj) with three black-type wins this season including the Group 1 Emirates Stakes at Flemington - his second Group 1 success.

The NZB Ready to Run Sale is going from strength-to-strength with a continuous stream of proven racetrack results. Among the 107 stakes wins in the past six seasons, the Sale can claim four times the number of Group wins of any comparable sale in the past three seasons.

New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale of Two-Year-Olds – the most successful sale of its kind in Australasia – commences this week on Wednesday 18 & Thursday 19, with horses available for inspection now at the Karaka Sales Complex.
