New Record Top Price for Karaka Select Sale

The success continued on Day Two of the three-day Select Sale today at Karaka, with�the aggregate already exceeding total takings�in 2006,�the average, median and clearance remaining ahead of previous figures, and a new record top�price posted for this Sale.

The success continued on Day Two of the three-day Select Sale today at Karaka, with�the aggregate already exceeding total takings�in 2006,�the average, median and clearance remaining ahead of previous figures, and a new record top�price posted for this Sale.

With one day to go, the current Select Sale aggregate is $13,754,500 up 7% from last year's final Select Sale aggregate of NZ$12,834,250 with 99 fewer lots sold. This means turnover for the week�already exceeds last year's final Sales Series aggregate of $65,721,500 by 7% at NZ$70,588,000, with one day of the Select Sale and the one-day Festival Sale still to come.

After 361 lots catalogued over the first two days of the Select Sale, 271 have now sold for an average of�NZ$50,755, a median of NZ$42,000�and a clearance of�82%. This reflects a huge 46% increase in average from NZ$34,687, and a 40% increase in median from $30,000.

Lot-600

�Lot 600 with Little Avondale Stud's Sam Williams

Lot 600 provided the early highlight of the day, with the colt by No Excuse Needed out of Centaine mare, Cymbidium, fetching NZ$230,000 to the bid of bloodstock agent, Michael Stedman. Previously the highest price at this Sale was NZ$190,000 for a Cape Cross colt out of Gardenia (Danehill) in 2004.

There have now been�26 lots sold for NZ$100,000 or more at this Select Sale, compared with a total of eight six-figure lots at this Sale in 2006.

So far West Australia bloodstock agent John Chalmers still heads up the buyers list with 12 yearlings�purchased from this session�for�NZ$647,000 including a top price of NZ$120,000 for�a Danasinga filly out of Ilacourt (Pompeii Court) from Waikato Stud.
