NZB Announces New Chairman

14 February 2006

New Zealand Bloodstock is pleased to announce the appointment today of Joe Walls to the position of Chairman of the company.

Andrew Seabrook, General Manager of New Zealand Bloodstock confirmed, "We are thrilled to welcome Joe back to a hands-on role in the company and know his knowledge and expertise in the New Zealand thoroughbred industry will be a huge asset to the company going forwards.

"The coming weeks and months will be challenging times for New Zealand Bloodstock as we address some major issues currently facing our industry. Joe will be a very welcome participant in this process, and in the future growth and development of our business.

"We want to thank our outgoing Chairman, Don McIlraith, for his valuable contribution over the past four years and look forward to his continuing association with the company on the Board of Directors."

Joe Walls was General Manager of Wrightson Bloodstock for many years before the company was bought by Peter and Philip Vela in 1996. He stayed on in that role for four years and since then he has been New Zealand Bloodstock's Head Auctioneer. He also assumed the role of Chairman at New Zealand Thoroughbred Marketing for three years before his retirement in July last year when he was replaced by Bill Gianotti.

Walls commented, "I am delighted to have been given this opportunity to be involved with New Zealand Bloodstock in the role of Chairman. I admire the hard work and dedication of the team there and am looking forward to working with Don and the Management team as they continue to work towards a successful future."

Walls will take up his new post immediately.
