Ready To Run Sale Produces Bonecrusher Quinella

Less than 12 months after being sold through the Karaka Ready to Run Sale, graduates Jungle Juice and Military Move quinellaed the Listed Bonecrusher Stakes (1400m) at Ellerslie.

Jungle Juice (Jungle Pocket x Shadow Ray, by Groom Dancer) was already named in the 2008 catalogue and was purchased by the keen eye of Dominic Li of IDL Racing as the first lot on the second day of the breeze-up Sale which has produced seven Group 1 winners in the past three years.

Secured for $15,000 from Bruce Wallbanks' The White Street Trust, the three-year-old filly proved too good for the eleven-horse field which included some of the best males of her generation including Wanganui Guineas winner Warrentherooster (Savabeel).

Jockey Noel Harris bided his time on the maiden filly who was racing in her fifth career start, finally letting his mount finish strongly through centre track to win by one and a quarter lengths.

Trained by Donna, Dean Logan and Chris Gibbs, Jungle Juice will now look towards competing in the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Series with her ultimate goal the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks (2400m) on 20 March.

Second placed Military Move (Volksraad x All Night Party, by Just a Dancer) was purchased by Hong Kong trainer Almond Lee for $110,000 at last year's Ready to Run Sale from Amity Lodge.

Raced in New Zealand by Steven Kit Sing Lo from the Shaune Ritchie stable, Military Move had won on debut and showed his immense ability by finishing second in Listed company at just his second race-day appearance.

The 2009 Ready to Run Sale set for 17 November at Karaka will see a full-brother to Jungle Juice auctioned at Lot 85 on account of Mana Park.

Jungle Juice is the result of the long-term breeding partnership of prominent Matamata breeders Rich Hill Stud and leading Japanese breeders Shadai Farm.

Shadow Ray arrived in New Zealand in 2005 and produced three foals by Jungle Pocket before foaling this season to Rich Hill Stud's Any Suggestion. The chestnut colt is from the first crop of their Group 1 placed sprinting son of Lion Hunter.
