Spirited Bidding at Karaka Spring Sale

A keen crowd gathered at Karaka for the Spring Bloodstock Sale today for an action-packed three hours selling which saw 80 horses change hands for an aggregate of NZ$533,300.

With the majority of the 94 lot catalogue sold unreserved, the day's clearance rate finished at 96%. Click here to view the passed in lots.

The highlight of the day came at Lot 62 who was purchased by Tom Murtagh on behalf a Singapore-based client for $100,000. By Exceed and Excel, the two year old filly is from the Group 1 MVRC William Reid Stakes winning Bletchingly mare Wrap Around. Her half-sister, Attire, is the dam of the outstanding Gai Waterhouse-trained filly Fashions Afield (Redoute's Choice).

Wrap Around also provided the second highest priced lot of the day with her chestnut yearling Hawkeye filly at Lot 40�fetching $32,500 to the bid of Assured Assets.

Focus now turns to New Zealand Bloodstock's Ready to Run Sale of 2YOs on Tuesday 17 November at Karaka. Breeze Ups for the Sale will be held at Te Rapa on 19 & 20 October.

PLEASE NOTE that the following six broodmares catalogued for the 2009 Karaka Spring Bloodstock Sale were not transported to Karaka due to being close to foaling. They are however available for purchase by tender.�

Invitation to Tender

New Zealand Bloodstock invites prospective buyers to submit a tender on any of the Lots listed below in lieu of these horses being offered for sale through the ring on Friday 25 September.

Tenders shall be submitted on the official Tender Document available from New Zealand Bloodstock ([email protected]).

All tenders shall be presented to New Zealand Bloodstock Auction Manager James Jennings by 5pm on Tuesday 29 September. Such date and time shall be deemed 'fall of the hammer' under the Conditions of Sale. Horses are being offered on an unreserved basis and the highest tender will secure the Lot in each case.� All tenders must be made unconditionally.

A vet certificate confirming that the broodmare is insurable is available for viewing at New Zealand Bloodstock for each Lot. Prospective buyers should obtain a copy of the certificate and undertake all other inspections and enquiries as they deem necessary before submitting a tender.

In all other cases the sale will be governed by New Zealand Bloodstock's Conditions of Sale as published in its 2009 Karaka Spring Bloodstock Sale catalogue.

The Vendor reserves the right to withdraw any Lot from sale by tender at any time.
